Information You Submit
Search Terms
When you type a name, location, or similar term into a search tool, that request is sent to the third-party provider that operates the tool. Bureau County Inmate Population does not keep its own stored log of those search terms.
Messages
If you email us or send a message through a contact channel, we use the information in that message to read it, respond, and handle the issue you raised. We do not share those messages outside our organization unless a valid legal requirement applies.
Information Collected Automatically
Like most websites, the site may receive routine technical information when a page loads.
- Internet Protocol address.
- Browser name and version.
- Device type and operating system.
- Pages viewed and approximate time spent on them.
- Referring website, when one is passed to us.
- Date and time stamps for visits and requests.
Cookies
Cookies may be used to understand site traffic and visitor behavior. You can block or remove cookies through your browser settings, though some functions may behave differently after cookies are disabled.
How the Data Is Used
- To keep pages available, stable, and reasonably fast.
- To send search requests to the partner service that handles the search feature.
- To understand which Bureau County record pages visitors use most.
- To diagnose broken pages, errors, and performance problems.
- To support advertising that may be based on general interests.
Outside Websites
This site links to sheriff, jail, court, IDOC, federal locator, and third-party search resources. Once you leave this site, the destination site's privacy notice and data practices apply.
Advertising partners may use their own systems to recognize activity across websites for interest-based advertising. That tracking is controlled by those partners, not by Bureau County public offices.

We do not sell personal information. Information may be available to these categories when needed for the site to work or when required by law.
- Search partners that process submitted search queries.
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and page use.
- Advertising networks that display or measure ads.
- Law enforcement, courts, or government bodies when a valid subpoena, court order, or other legal process requires disclosure.
Security
We use reasonable security practices for a public website, but no internet-connected system can be promised as fully secure. We cannot guarantee that data will never be accessed, changed, or lost.
Adults Only
The site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a minor has submitted information, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.
Your Choices
- Ask for a copy of personal information we maintain about you.
- Ask us to correct information you believe is inaccurate.
- Ask us to delete information when retention is not required.
- Opt out of certain processing where applicable law gives that right.
